Effects of Tobacco & Nicotine Misuse

Nicotine changes how the brain works, and alters its reward pathways which may lead to addiction. Nicotine use is riskier for teens and young adults because the brain is not fully developed until the age of 25 meaning that significant nicotine exposure before that age can interfere with normal brain development.
